Wallace Evans was one of the founding fathers of the Steamers organization, and was a constant on the Board of Directors for many years. He served on the board from its inception in 1999, through 2018. He was a leader of the group for many years, where he served as the Vice President for an extended period of time, and even as the President from 2012-2014. Wallace had an astounding commitment to the Steamers organization and what it meant to the Town of Edenton and all of Chowan County.
The Evans' Pitcher of The Year Award was created in 2019 and is annually given to the best pitcher on the Steamers’ staff each season.
