Edenton Steamers Hires New Coach for 2025

Edenton Steamers General Manager Lauren Baker has made her first hire for the 2025 season. Naming Hunter Hackney as the new skipper for the Steamers. Hackney is no stranger to the Old North State League, he was the head coach for the Fayetteville Coyotes in 2020 and served as the head coach for the New Bern Southpaws in their inaugural season in 2024.  

Hackney, a native of Vanceboro, NC played collegiately at Saint Andrews University in Laurinburg which is a member of the Appalachian Athletic Conference. Hackney has coached at the High School and Collegiate levels over the past 10 seasons.  

Baker stated, "she was excited to add Hunter to the Steamer Family."  Hunter led the New Bern Southpaws to the playoffs last year in their first season and we feel he will do a great job here in Edenton.
